      The Heat Exchanger HX is a pipe that passes through the main steam boiler. Water for coffee gets heated indirectly as it passes thru the HX. This allows you to brew & steam simultaneously.

      Does an HX machine need a 'cooling flush'?

      To ensure appropriate brew temperature, a short flush of water before locking in the portafilter is recommended. This is a standard professional barista technique.

      Are the side panels actually customizable?
